QA Engineer

Shutterfly is looking for an experienced QA Engineer who is analytical, savvy, and possess excellent communication skills, to be a part of the SBS testing team. In this position, you'll ensure the delivery of quality web products by writing test plans, creating and automating test cases, designing and executing tests, and finding and reporting issues while leveraging the work of an offshore QA team to achieve your testing goals. Our ideal applicant has at least 5-7 years of experience testing back end and web applications.
Responsibilities:
Developing and establishing automation frameworks.
Designs, maintains and executes test suites that are stored in Rally repository
Work on extremely complex tasks and problems of diverse scope, including implementations, upgrades, enhancements, integration, and defect fixes to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
Actively participates in agile meetings with product management and engineering, and own the product testing effort. You will eventually be the platform expert on the QA team for this area.
Performing complex functional, integration, regression, and performance tests.
Contributing to the development and implementation of Quality Assurance best practices and process improvements.
Reports defects clearly in the JIRA defect tracking system
Responsible for designing testing requirements and writing, communicating and verifying test executions, with a focus on test automation and performance throughout the entire software development life cycle.
Informs manager in a timely and clear manner regarding progress on tasks and of issues needing immediate remediation or escalation
Works closely with development manager to creates and/or contributes to test plans and test procedures
Proactive attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done well
Highly flexible attitude and ability to shift gears when priorities change
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of a degree.
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in quality assurance, with both manual and automated development, including UI, Web Service, and backend testing.
Experience in the health care/health insurance industry preferred.
Hands on experience with test automation and test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, QTP, and Rest Assured), as well as test application and tools.
Experience with issue tracking systems and test case repositories.(Jira, TestRail etc)
Experience with deployment validation and activities.
Experience with test driven development, with testing in an Agile environment preferred.
Proven understanding of a software language (e.g., C#, Java) or scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
Knowledge of web services and hands on experience with web service testing tools such as SoapUI.
Hands on experience with MySQL, MongoDB.
Understanding of software development methodology and a strong understanding of back end (non UI) testing.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
