POSITION SUMMARY
The Insurance Specialist I is responsible for processing insurance claims, posting charges and receipts. In addition this position is responsible for filling out insurance forms, monitoring specific reports on insurance processing, answering insurance questions and general incoming calls. Depending upon the size of the practice the Insurance Specialist I may also be called upon to assist in check out, answer the telephone, pull and file medical records and input charges into the practice management system.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum of two years experience in similar position in a medical office setting preferred.
3. Knowledge in medical terminology and proficient use of computer preferred.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
