Job Description:
The Patient Advocacy Representative plays a vital role in assisting individuals with understanding and enrolling in Medicaid, a government healthcare program.
Primary responsibilities will be to guide and support individuals through the application and renewal process, assisting if individuals lose coverage and complete the necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
By leveraging knowledge of Medicaid policies and regulations, the Patient Advocacy Representative helps individuals access the healthcare coverage they need.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties that are assigned.
Application Assistance:
Assist individuals in completing Medicaid applications and renewals accurately and efficiently.
Explain the required documentation, deadlines, and procedures to ensure compliance with Medicaid guidelines.
Loss of Medicaid Assistance:
If individuals lose their Medicaid coverage with the State, assist those individuals with the appropriate next steps.
Information Provision:
Connect individuals with Medicaid program resources and materials.
Referrals and Resources:
Connect individuals with additional resources and support services, such as community organizations or healthcare providers, to help them access necessary healthcare and social services beyond Medicaid coverage.
Application Follow-up:
Monitor the progress of Medicaid applications, ensuring they are processed timely and accurately.
Communicate with individuals regarding any missing documentation or additional information required to facilitate the application's approval.
Compliance Adherence:
Stay updated with Medicaid policies, procedures, and eligibility criteria to ensure accurate guidance and compliance with program regulations.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with utmost care.
Collaborative Support:
Coordinate with other healthcare professionals, enrollment specialists, or social workers to streamline the application process and address any complex cases or challenges faced by individuals.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions and outcomes, documenting application statuses, trends, and challenges faced by applicants.
Generate reports as required to track performance and identify areas for improvement.

Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities to ensure accurate and timely completion of applications.
Proficiency in using computer systems, databases, and online application portals.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent Additional education or certification in healthcare administration or a related field is a plus.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human service periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, mean, mode and median ability to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
