Research Scientist

Greenville, SC Greenville, SC Full-time Full-time From $100,000 a year From $100,000 a year The Research Scientist will serve as technical lead for the powder and tableting formulation.
This position will be responsible for ensuring the effective formulation of new powder products including meal replacements, protein powders, vitamins and sports nutrition powders.
The Research Scientist must be comfortable making recommendations of ingredient selection to improve organoleptic taste and palatability to customers, understand details of selecting appropriate raw materials and work independently with business partners providing technical support for troubleshooting manufacturing issues including blending, milling, tableting, and film coating.
Must be comfortable working independently on daily activities.
Responsibilities:
Develop powder formulations of Vitamin/Mineral Supplements as needed to support business growth while maintaining compliance with IVC's SOPs and industry regulations maintaining cGMPs.
Evaluate alternate and new raw materials to assess morphology, physical characteristics, stability, and feasibility of use in manufacturing to include appropriate reports and assessments as needed.
Provide technical support to Manufacturing from concept to commercialization including prototyping, laboratory and scale up batches and final production manufacturing batch records.
Provide scientific input as needed for Marketing, Label Compliance, Quality, and Purchasing.
Write product development proposals and reports including risk assessments as needed.
Revise existing formulations to achieve cost reductions and manufacturing efficiencies as needed.
Propose corrective action plans to remedy actual or potential quality issues.
Interact with vendors, suppliers, and technical personnel to solve issues or discuss potential new business applications.
Collaborate with other R&D team members on projects and support activities other facilities when required.
Provide monthly updates on progress of long-term projects.
Qualifications:
Master degree Food Science or related field preferred; Bachelor required At least 10 years of experience in powder supplements, tablet compaction and formulation, and has launched at least 2 commercial products.
Thorough knowledge of commercial manufacturing and basic quality principles including various regulatory requirements.
Ability to identify the root cause(s) of problems, propose effective corrective action plans and complete documentation and activities needed to complete CAPAs.
Ability to write reports and give formal presentations.
Good communication, organizational, and computer skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work on site to troubleshoot and provide support to manufacturing.
Six Sigma certification preferred.
Working Conditions Prolonged sitting while keyboarding and reviewing documentation which would require bending and grasping.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
